| | United Airlines Issues Travel Recommendations to Customers |
| date: Aug 13th 2006 12:03 page: 1 | 2
The safety and security of United s customers and employees is our top priority, and in light of heightened security, United recommends customers take the following steps to ease their travel experience:
Arrive at the airport at least three hours prior to scheduled departure time. (Update as of Aug. 11, 2006: Please arrive two hours prior to scheduled departure time for domestic and international flights and three hours prior to scheduled departure time for flights leaving the U.K.)
Minimize carry-on baggage.
Pack necessary liquids or gels of any kind in checked baggage (including but not limited to beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, toothpaste and hair gel). These substances will not be allowed in carry-on baggage on the aircraft. Exceptions include baby formula, if a baby or small child is traveling prescription medicine with a name matching the passenger s ticket insulin and essential other non-prescription medications. Because of the current heightened security requirements, United has waived its excess baggage fee for customers who elect to check their carry-on baggage.
Consume before boarding any beverages purchased in the boarding area. Any such beverages will not be permitted on the aircraft.
Visit united.com or call 1-800-UNITED-1 for flight status information.
United has not canceled any of its flights as a result of the current, heightened security situation.
Additionally, United has revised its ticketing policies for its customers with travel plans to and from anywhere United flies. These revised policies apply to all customers flying Aug. 10-Sept. 1, with tickets purchased on or before Aug. 10 for travel to/from any U.S. domestic or international airport United serves on any United® or United code-share flight.
For customers currently en route who would like to make one change to their return trip, rules and restrictions regarding standard change fees, advance purchases, day or time applications, blackouts and minimum or maximum stay requirements have been waived. Origin and destination cities must remain the same.
