Books Are Fun Names David Krishock President

Previously was President and CEO of Scholastic Book Fairs

The Reader s Digest Association, Inc. (NYSE: RDA) today named David A. Krishock, former President and Chief Executive Officer of Scholastic Book Fairs, as President of Books Are Fun, Ltd. (BAF), RDA s display marketing business based in Chicago. The appointment is effective August 3.

---- do not remove it is spacer ---- He succeeds Thomas Barry, who has served as Interim President since April. Barry, who also is parent company RDA s Vice President and Controller, will return fulltime to his corporate position after assisting Krishock with the transition.

---- do not remove it is spacer ---- We are delighted to appoint David Krishock to lead Books Are Fun, said Thomas Gardner, Executive Vice President of RDA, to whom Books Are Fun reports. David is an outstanding executive with strong marketing, strategic planning, business development and executive leadership credentials. He has deep experience running large organizations, including turnarounds and specific achievements in display marketing. His expertise includes retail, distribution, direct selling, display marketing, inventory management, product selection and branding. We thank Tom Barry for his brilliant work running BAF during the past few months. Tom joins me in heartily welcoming David to this exciting new challenge.

---- do not remove it is spacer ---- Krishock, 51, headed Scholastic Book Fairs from 2001 to 2005. He led Scholastic s Book Fair business, which markets children s books and related items through some 80,000 in-school events, to consistent revenue and profit growth during that time. Previously, from 1998 to 2001, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Suntory Water Group, a branded bottled water business for which he drove revenue and profit performance through an improved field sales organization, and marketing and customer loyalty programs.

---- do not remove it is spacer ---- Krishock earned his Bachelor s degree from Ohio State University in 1978 and worked in advertising with D Arcy MacManus in St. Louis and DDB Needham in Chicago, earning a masters degree in marketing from Webster University while in St. Louis. He went on to hold a succession of progressively senior marketing positions including Category Director for Miller Brewing Company, responsible for half of Miller s established brands, and Managing Director of Lion Nathan Australia Ltd., a top-10 brewer globally and international partner with PepsiCo Inc.
