| | Designer J J Schoeman Brings Dramatic Creations from South Africa to New York s Couture Fashion Week |

As New York City s fashion cognoscenti gear up for another whirlwind round of fashion shows and parties in September 2006, one of the most anticipated runway shows is sure to be that of the latest collection by talented young South African designer J.J. S
Part of Couture Fashion Week, the show is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 6 September 2006 at the West Side Loft, 336 West 37th Street, New York City.
J.J. Schoeman’s creative flair for the dramatic and ability to bring out his clients best features has made him the darling of beauty queens, showbiz personalities, celebrities, tourists, international diplomats and the sophisticated “Proudly South African ladies of Gauteng. He is known for his skill at melding African and Euro-centric fashion into a stylish, striking blend. Mr. Schoeman s designs have been heralded by social columnists and fashion editors of glossy magazines. The management of the Old Mutual in Rosebank also took note of this designer s work and, recognizing his appeal, offered him a sought-after spot in their exclusive upscale shopping area. He is now poised to mark his mark on the discerning New York fashion market.
He creates exclusive designs for, among others, Miss South Africa and Miss Teen South Africa.. According to Dhiveja Sundrum, 2005 Miss World South Africa, “The Miss South Africa organizers arranged for designer J.J. Schoeman to create my competition evening gown... J.J. is not only talented, but he has also been very kind in helping me to gather a suitable pageant wardrobe. She adds, I’m looking forward to showcasing his work overseas.”
Yet Mr. Schoeman s’s clientele are not only the rich and famous. His craftsmanship, professionalism and above all, his attention to detail, have made him popular with all members of the public. Brides, their retinue and teenagers dreaming of the perfect dress for their matric farewell, are all given special attention so that their fantasy gown can become a reality.
He has participated in South Africa Fashion Week in Johannesburg, as well as Cape Town Fashion Week where he was named the Best Beautiful Brides designer of 2004. Mr. Schoeman has also taken part in a number of charitable events including the recent Fire and Ice Winter Ball fundraising gala held by the South African Guide Dogs Association at the Castle Kyalami. The hottest attraction of the festive evening was the parade of Labrador puppies that were carried around the tables by a bevy of supermodels all dressed in J.J. Schoeman gowns.
South Africa is a treasure trove of gifted fashion designers, notes producer Andres Aquino.
