Dr. Andreas Bierwirth (35), previously Managing Director of Germanwings GmbH, will become Marketing Manager of Lufthansa German Airlines in Frankfurt as if 1st September 2006. In this position he will succeed Harald Eisenächer. In future, he will be responsible for Advertising and Brand Management, Direct and Sales Marketing, Customer Analysis and Market Research as well as the areas of Miles & More and Worldshop at Lufthansa German Airlines. There he will report to Executive Vice-president Marketing & Sales, Thierry Antinori.
Following a traineeship as a bank clerk, Andreas Bierwirth studied business administration at the University of Münster, and subsequently worked at the Institute for Marketing of the University of Münster with Professor Heribert Meffert. In November 2001, Andreas Bierwirth was awarded his doctorate by the University of Münster and in the same month started work as Managing Director of Westair GmbH in Dortmund. In April 2002, Dr. Andreas Bierwirth became a member of the management of Eurowings Flug GmbH. In October 2002, he was appointed Deputy Managing Director of Germanwings GmbH, and as of 1st January 2005 Managing Director of Germanwings GmbH. In this position he was responsible for the areas of Marketing & Product, Sales, Yield Management, Network Planning, as well as the Corporate Communication Center. In addition, he has completed commercial pilot training at the Lufthansa Pilot School in Bremen and Tucson AZ / USA. Andreas Bierwirth is married and has one son.
