| | American Eagle To Begin Service Between New York-LaGuardia And Des Moines, Iowa |
| date: Apr 8th 2006 15:34
American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, will add nonstop service between New York LaGuardia Airport and Des Moines International Airport, beginning June 15, 2006. American Eagle will operate one daily round-trip...
flight six days a week between the two cities, using 37-seat Embraer 135 regional jet aircraft.
“American Eagle is pleased to add another new Midwest destination to our existing New York service,” said Peter Bowler, President of American Eagle. “ Iowa travelers will have convenient access to New York, complementing American Eagle’s existing service from Des Moines to Chicago and Dallas/Fort Worth.”
“A direct flight between Des Moines and New York City will be a great benefit to Iowans,” said Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa). “This direct and daily flight to the ‘Big Apple’ from the heart of Iowa will make trips more productive for businesses and more convenient for vacationers.”
“I am thrilled that American Eagle will soon begin non-stop service between Iowa’s capital and New York City,” said Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa). “This is good news for Iowa business travelers because it saves time and money. Bringing new non-stop flights to New York City also improves our ability to attract new businesses and create high-paying jobs. I am pleased to support this service and expect that it will be very successful.”
As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee s Subcommittee on Aviation, I m pleased my continuing efforts to promote expanded air service to Des Moines have been realized,” said Rep. Leonard Boswell (D-Iowa). “This new service particularly helps the business traveler who may want to arrive and return in the same day.
“This is tremendous news not only for central Iowa, but air travelers statewide,” said Craig Smith, Aviation Director for Des Moines International Airport. “As more passengers use this airport, we can attract more opportunities for additional service.”
